Street Girls Aid
Street Girls Aid (S. Aid) was established in February 1994 and is a non-religious, non-political organization working with street connected children and at risk children/youth, their families and their communities across the country. S. Aid’s projects are designed to assist the children’s reintegration (reintegration into their families, the school system, employment and the larger society)
S. Aid is an independent Ghanaian NGO, and is run entirely by Ghanaian staff.
Our mission is premised on no child must be left behind and that all children and young women no matter where they live must have a high quality of life and an opportunity to achieve their fullest potential and thus contribute to the society.
S.Aid’s work contributes to the following SDGs
Street Girls Aid (SGA)
Street Outreach Program
The Outreach team works directly on the streets to connect and build relationships with girls, children and their families who are living and working on the streets. Alternatives and options to street life are explored with the children and they are referred to other services to support them to move away from street life.
Young Mothers Support Program
Providing a safe shelter and psychosocial support for girls, young mothers and other at risk girls who require protection. The shelter is generally for a limited time only and provides the young mothers and other girls with opportunities to move on to the next stage of their lives.
The Vocational and Life Skills Training Centers
The Training Centers at S. Aid provides vocational skills to street connected girls/young mothers and other at risk youths between 15 and 21 years and are supported with realistic options to achieve gainful employment.
ECD PROGRAM
S.Aid’s ECD program serves mothers living in the streets and slums communities of Accra. S.Aid is a program for children, ages 0- 6 years old (7 years in few cases that allows a child to be prepared for primary school).

Our impact
Since our inception in 1994, close to 15 000 children and young women have directly benefited from our services. An average of 350 children benefit from the services yearly as mothers take advantage of a safe daycare and the expectation that their children will be better prepared for formal education.
